To the Editor:
I had the pleasure of meeting Cindy Shevlin-Woodcock to talk about her candidacy for the Osseo School Board and how she is uniquely qualified to serve the students, parents and community members for Osseo Area Schools.
As a former teacher, she understands the rewards and challenges in a classroom. Her experience as a special education policy specialist with the Minnesota Department of Education brings valuable insight in support of high need populations. Cindy earned her doctoral degree in Educational Administration and Leadership and is an adjunct faculty member at the University of St. Thomas. Dr. Shevlin-Woodcock has a deep comprehensive understanding of the factors needed to achieve educational equity for all learners.
She recognizes the value of collaboration as a board member and will work together for continual improvement to ensure a world class educational system. One of the biggest and most important roles of the school board is to hire and guide the school board’s only employee, the superintendent. With Cindy’s background, she recognizes the important responsibility of selecting the best superintendent to lead District 279, ensuring the next leader’s ability to be laser focused regarding educational equity, to engage parents and community, use data driven decision making in all areas of executive leadership, including management of financial resources, curriculum oversight, labor relations, and legislative advocacy.
Beyond her experience, Cindy is a servant leader who’s passion comes from the heart and aligns with the District Mission; to inspire and prepare all students with the confidence, courage and competence to achieve their dreams, contribute to community and engage in a lifetime of learning. Please join me in voting for Cindy Shevlin-Woodcock for the Osseo Area School Board.
